El Burro: Proof-of-Concept Excerpt
This clip was taken from an early proof-of-concept shoot for EL BURRO, filmed in Dallas, TX in February 2026. For the proof of concept, we chose to film the soft opening of the feature — a sequence that immediately establishes the atmosphere of the film, introduces Ric, and drops the audience directly into the emotional and psychological tension driving the story.
The scene follows Ric during a simple favor gone sideways. After hearing movement from the trunk of the car, he pulls over and discovers unexpected travelers hidden inside. Moments later, police arrive, forcing him into a panic as he believes he’s been caught — only to realize the officers are responding to something else entirely. The sequence became an important early test of tone, pacing, tension, and visual language for the larger feature.
The material was created with an incredible Dallas-based crew and voice talent, drawing visual inspiration from films like Paris, Texas and other grounded American character studies rooted in atmosphere, isolation, and emotional realism.
After screening portions of the footage for producers, distributors, and other industry professionals during SXSW, the response to the project has been extremely encouraging. We are currently continuing development while actively pursuing financing and production partners for the feature film.
